Summary of the religious path you have taken. From past religions to becoming an Atheist.

Go.

Christianity.  Irrational atheist.  Atheist.  The last two, of course, not being religions.

Born atheist, dragged to church till 13 'ish remained atheist, still atheist, will die atheist (unless given a valid reason to do otherwise).
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Remember, your inability to grasp science is not a valid argument against it.

ahhh, intriguing.

Thumpalumpacus

Nah, not really, more the resistance to give up belief, with nothing to back it up.  Waste of a good two years.
Illegitimi non carborundum.

Raised not particularly religious.  Brief acute bout with Christianity as a teen.  Complete recovery.

Okay, I'll answer my own question.

My mom raised me to be a freethinker. My dad objected.

I don't remember how the idea of God was implanted in my head, but I remember praying and asking him that if he would help me find my shoes I would never cuss again.
But I always knew I was lying. Haha.

I tried to invent my own religion when I was about 10. "Earthic"  :raised: Like Wiccan, but no magic. Apparently I was a realist before I knew it. I was creative, what can I say.

I then pretended to be a Christian because my current lover was. He was crazy. I went to an all African American (Baptist) church with him. People talked in tongues and passed out.

I always knew I didn't believe in God, at all. But I let them Baptize me anyways. The whole time I knew it was a bunch of bull.

Around the same time my mother got 'saved' by God, so she went crazy on me too. So I went to some churches with her, to humor her.

Then I dumped him and began meditating and claiming I was a Buddhist/Daoist/Taoist/Something.

Then I joined some random forum (not this one - ha), and delved into some philosophy and met a few really interesting people that impacted my life.

Around this time I just became someone who would rather learn, then ever decide.

Then I was into objectivism. Though that's not really a religion? I dunno.

And now, this.

philosoraptor

Methodist.  Christian, attended Catholic and Methodist services.  Unitarian Universalist.  Agnostic.  Atheist.

Meh.  I studied telekinesis for a while.  I stopped bothering when I realized that all "evidence" of TK was situations that were clearly impractical for everyday usage.  I later found out why.

@OP:
I was raised in an Assemblies of God church in Sacramento, CA.  My mother was a teacher at the preschool there and I was allowed to attend the church's private school for free.  Because I was one of a small handful of people who were going there for free, I was constantly harassed for not being a rich kid.  Knowing that this isn't how christians should behave, I began to question some things.  My dad's incessant skepticism of all things not-religious helped that process along.  I came to the conclusion by my teens that this wasn't the right religion, but I wasn't ready to give it up yet.  I moved along various denominations of christianity, finally stopping at Jehovah's Witnesses in my 20s.  It was while studying with them that I realized that the bible itself was flawed.  I quit their group and became a deist.  I remained a deist while all my other religious leanings fell away because I didn't understand how DNA could exist independent of the protein catalysts that form it.  I got some edumaction, and dropped that too.  I'm still a deist through wishful thinking, but honest enough to admit that there's no good reason to actively believe in a god (so I'm not really a deist, I just wish I was).
All hail Cancer Jesus!
